OUR Chiropractic SERVICES

Chiropractic healthcare is a branch of healthcare pertaining to the health of the spine, nervous system and musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors use spinal manipulation and other techniques to address the underlying conditions that are responsible for symptoms like back pain, neck pain, and chronic headaches. Chiropractic healthcare is generally practiced free of the use of medications or invasive therapies and treatments. Instead, patients are encouraged to adopt healthier lifestyles and eating habits to coincide with chiropractic adjustments and therapeutic exercises. Patients who follow the instructions of their chiropractors often experience less muscle tightness and overall pain.

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR CHIROPRACTIC HEALTHCARE?

The only way to know if you are a candidate for chiropractic healthcare is by consulting with a chiropractor for a complete clinical assessment. If you are not a candidate for chiropractic healthcare, or if you require medical treatment beyond the scope of chiropractic, you will be referred to the appropriate specialist or practitioner.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

Like any doctor visit, you will be asked to complete paperwork about your medical history and reason for visiting the chiropractor. You may be treated to ultrasound therapy or electronic muscle stimulation and heat or ice to help your body prepare for a chiropractic adjustment. The purpose of the adjustment is to reset areas of spasm or weakness in the spine and other areas of the musculoskeletal frame to an optimal state.

THERAPEUTIC EXERCISES & STRETCHES

  • Therapeutic exercise programs involve evaluation of an individual’s movement, physical capabilities, body type, and activity level in order to prescribe exercise and other physical means to help improve function.  The exercise program’s pacing, specific exercises, and amount of practice with Dr. Thomas will vary depending on the condition and the individual’s needs. Developing the right exercise for the individual sometimes requires trial and error, reviewing the person’s response to the exercise, and adjusting the exercise accordingly.

  • Stretches and exercises are given to help you help yourself between your treatments with us.

  • They may also be used after your acute phase of care to help offset the wear and tear you put on your spine in your day-to-day life.

Micronutrients and Immunity: Vitamin C and Other Antioxidants

Immune cells have a high requirement for antioxidants – especially vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene. Many immune cells (i.e., neutrophils) use these antioxidants to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) or free radicals (ROS) to kill viruses and other microbes. Immune cells also require antioxidants to protect themselves against the ROS they produce.

With suboptimal antioxidant status, immune cells cannot kill viruses as effectively and cannot protect themselves from the ROS they generate. The high ROS levels, in turn, damage immune cells and become less effective or immunosuppressed.
